The Power of Hope

I want to share with you one of my all-time favourite quotes from the American personal development guru and motivational speaker, Zig Ziglar: “You can make positive deposits in your own economy every day by reading and listening to powerful, positive, life-changing content, and by associating with encouraging and hope-building people.”

The part I find particularly poignant is the reference to associating with “hope-building people”. Anyone who takes positive action towards gaining more freedom of choice in life starts with hope. Hope is the driving force behind any plan for change, but hope alone cannot guide us. We need the right people and the right knowledge to help steer us in the right direction.

Like many of you reading this, I have been privileged enough to grow up in a free society, which has given me countless opportunities to grow and develop in every area of my life. But millions of people around the world don’t enjoy this privilege, particularly those who are born in war-torn countries, and who are suffering from illnesses that can’t be treated due to a lack of funds and limited resources.

My heart always breaks when I hear about children who are suffering in such situations. They did not choose to be born into these circumstances; it is only luck that has led to you and I being born where we were born and them being born where they were born. It is those people I feel compelled to help, compelled to offer hope to. I aspire to be one of those “hope-building people” that Zig Ziglar refers to.

This is all why Vincent Wong (my business partner and co-founder of Wealth Dragons) and I do everything we can to support Chain of Hope.

The charity, Chain of Hope has a 20-year legacy of raising funds and providing life-saving medical treatment for some of the millions of children worldwide who are born with treatable or preventable cardiac diseases, but who do not have the access to the right medical care in their countries.

As the name of the charity suggests… hope forms a chain. We are all connected and interlinked when we offer hope to others.

As part of the Chain of Hope fundraising initiative for 2016, some members of the Wealth Dragon team are running in the Vitality British 10K London Run. Such activities are great team builders and leave you with a real sense of camaraderie as well as keeping you fit. For more information about Chain of Hope please visit #mendinglittlehearts
